I loaded the Scrivener test-project that is shown at the bottom of the previously noted page, then generated the output as markdown (which is the compiled default in the project). I then used a markdown viewer, in my case the free "MacDown" app, to view and print the file. It worked GREAT! All the formatting and images came out with no extra work on my part.
Bottom line... This approach has some real potential.
