IGHR 2017: Seats going fast. It’s that good.

The GEG in me emerged in the summer of 2015, when I finally committed a week of my life to the Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research. I returned in 2016 to an even better experience. This year I’m registered for Course 3, and we’re relocating to the University of Georgia. Join me in Athens July 23—28 for IGHR 2017 — the best value your genealogical education dollar can buy.

IGHR and the path of the GEG

My only regret each year as I depart IGHR is that I have to wait another whole year for the next course. It’s that good.

I’d been doing genealogy for many years before I took IGHR Course 1 (Methods and Sources), and I was afraid it was going to have nothing to offer. Wrong! It revealed how much you can miss when you are determined to feel your way along, rather than seeking strong teachers. It set me on the path of the GEG.

For fifty years, IGHR convened every summer at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. This year, we go to Georgia for the first time. The Georgia Genealogical Society has taken over administration of this organization, and we will gather at the University of Georgia in historic Athens. For those of you who had difficulty with the steep landscape at Samford, you’ll be delighted to know that we’ll study, sleep, and eat in a contained conference center.

Register before it’s too late

You’ll want to register now, because Course 3 (Advanced Methodology and Evidence Analysis) and Course 11 (Genetics for Genealogists: Beginning DNA) are already sold out and building a waiting list. Registration only opened SIX DAYS ago. It’s that good.

Still aren’t convinced it’s for you? Check out the diary I kept last year. I took Course 2 (Intermediate Genealogy & Historical Studies), and loved every minute of it. Thanks to those six days, I have operated at an entirely new level of effectiveness since last summer.

And in case you’re wondering, no one is paying me to say this. I just believe in this institute. It’s that good!

Sign up, GEG friends, and I’ll meet you in Athens! If you’re not already an IGHR convert, you will be before we say goodbye.

IGHR 2017 . . . IT’S THAT GOOD!
