Preventing Zotero Connector from embedding PDFs or web snapshots that take up Zotero's storage space
Quote from Donna Cox Baker on March 8, 2023, 8:28 pmWhen Zotero is installed, a number of options are automatically selected in Edit--Preferences on the General Tab. The first item will capture a snapshot of a webpage and attach it to the source citation record. The second item will cause Zotero Connector to draw in the displayed PDF, when you're citing an article like JSTOR. It will be embedded, rather than an external link. Deselect these two items, if you do not want these attachments taking up space in your system. The Zotero Connector will then create only the source citation record. You can manually download the PDF to your hard drive or cloud storage and create a link in Zotero to the new record. Or in the case of a website, if you desire to capture screenshots, you can do that manually, save it to your location of choice on your drive or cloud storage, and create the link from the citation created by Zotero Connector.
