Including the original publication date on a reprinted book
Quote from Donna Cox Baker on March 1, 2020, 4:35 amZotero allows the developers of various styles to use things found in the Extra field to handle special circumstances. If you use the Chicago Manual of Style series or the APA style, you can use the Extra field to handle using both the original and reprint dates on a book that is in a new printing.
Put the new date in the regular Date field in your citation record. In the Extra field, on a line by itself, put "original-date: " then the original publication year. (If you put anything after it, on the same line, it will be included in your citation.
I get this book footnote:
Howard F. McCord, Cemeteries of Bibb County, Alabama 1817–1974 (1979; repr., Centreville, Ala.: Friends of the Brent/Centreville Library, 1994).
