Column FU Cell Red

Hi there,

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. After entering data, column FU remains red even when there is an ID number in column FW. When I use the reformat selection option, it fixes the red, but it gives column FW a completely different ID number and removes all of the Sort & Filter data for that particular row.  So far, I've gone back to change the ID to the previous ID and re-entered the Sort & Filter data, but I'm thinking I shouldn't have to do all of that just to make a red cell turn white!  🙂 Any suggestions?  I've attached a pdf of my spreadsheet if it helps.

Hi, Candace. I'm so sorry you're experiencing trouble with this. We had problems with the FU column in the very early versions of this spreadsheet, but I thought I had fixed it for new buyers. Apparently I did the opposite. I just tested on the newest version and had the same problem you mentioned. I will be fixing this and the link you got when you purchased the sheet should now pull the corrected version. Meanwhile, if you have done work you don't want to repeat or move to a new sheet, you can correct the existing sheet manually. You need to replace the contents of the FU6 cell with this slightly revised formula, then paste it into all other FU cells:

=if(AND(A6>=1790,A6<=1860,FW6<>"",GK6=1,GK7=2,GE6=A6,isformula(GI6),ISFORMULA(GJ6),ISFORMULA(GH6),ISFORMULA(GH6)),"",1)

It will keep bringing the faulty formula from the template, so you can correct the problem in the template this way:

  • Click on the All Sheets icon on the bottom-left of your sheet. It appears as three horizontal lines.
  • Select the sheet titled 9060TMPL.
  • Paste the revised formula in the FU cells for each census line.

Thanks so much for letting me know about this. I suspect many have been living the with the error flag flaw.

Sorry again for the trouble. I hope to have the clean new sheet ready before midnight. Go back to your original download sheet and access a new copy. Let me know if you have any continuing problems.

Donna
