Privacy Policy–Golden Channel Publishing

Effective Date: June 14, 2023

Golden Channel Publishing Privacy Statement

[Genohistory.com is the main website of Golden Channel Publishing. The Beyond Kin Project operates with the support of GCP. Both operate under its privacy policy.]

From Donna Cox Baker, owner of Golden Channel Publishing

As owner of Golden Channel Publishing (“GCP”), I value my relationship with you and place the highest importance on respecting and protecting your privacy. I want you to feel comfortable and confident when using my products and services and entrusting your private information to me. This privacy statement applies to all products, tools, and publications of the GCP.

Protecting your Information:

I exercise due diligence to protect your personal information from loss, misuse, or unauthorized alteration by using industry-recognized security safeguards that comply with the Global Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI) and the Secure Socket Layer Certificate (SSL).

Please note that my due diligence is not a 100% guarantee of your information’s security, if such a promise could be possible. I am a one-person operation, credentialed in the field of history—not in law, nor in data privacy. While I do all I can do, reasonably, to protect you from risk, you use this site at your own reasoned risk.

Data Storage:

  • GCP websites reside on Bluehost servers. See Bluehost’s Privacy Policy for information on its commitment to and policies surrounding data protection.

Data Security

  • GCP cannot guarantee complete safety of your data transmitted via the Internet. SSL certification for the domains I manage enables the transmission of encrypted data into and out of GCP sites. I am cautious in the selection of partners but do not control them. While my sites are as secure as I can reasonably make them, you use the site at your own risk.

Information GCP Collects:

  • To aid in your experience with GCP, I collect the personal information you provide, such as your name, shipping/billing address, e-mail, and phone number when you interact to purchase or use my products.
  • I handle email processing through MailerLite in order to notify customers and potential customers of opportunities to consider new products and to become aware of events or news that could be of interest. (See MailerLite’s GDPR Compliance Statement for details of what information it gathers, how it is used, and how it is protected.) I do not sell personally identifiable information gathered in MailerLite to other organizations. All emails sent through MailerLite include a link through which the recipient may unsubscribe, receiving no future marketing emails. An individual email might be sent to someone who has unsubscribed, if a purchase transaction is being completed and clarification is required. MailerLite is linked to the WooCommerce tool I use at Genohistory.com to handle product purchases. You may opt out of receiving mass marketing emails and newsletters as you check out of the Genohistory shop’s cart. Filling out a newsletter subscription opt-in on any Genohistory page will make your information available for email marketing.
  • The GCP store operates in cooperation with WooCommerce and Paypal, which are both committed to privacy, PCI compliance, and the GDPR. See WooCommerce’s Privacy Policy and the PayPal Privacy Policy. The GCP does not process or store bank or credit card information outside of the protected frameworks established by these organizations. I will never see your credit card number, and it will never be stored on my computer.
  • The 90-60 Census Worksheet product in the GCP store is designed to work with Google Sheets and features created with Google Apps Script. See Google Privacy & Terms for more information about its use of and protection of data. GCP is not responsible for changes to the GCP product resulting from discontinued services, new rules, or other Google decisions that render previously working features unworkable.
  • GCP has multiple Facebook/Meta sites, all identified under its direction. See Meta’s GDPR policy for more information on how this company handles privacy. The Genohistory Facebook page is used for information, community, and marketing and does make use of Facebook Pixel to monitor the success of sales campaigns and maximize the effectiveness of targeted marketing. GCP participates in the Facebook Shared Matching technology, which uses encrypted versions of customers’ data to find matches with Facebook profiles, in order to maximize the availability of products of interest to those who are drawn to GCP-related information and products. It also expands the potential for GCP’s products and information to reach a related audience outside of the existing customer base. By accepting cookies to view the Genohistory.com site, you are authorizing this exchange of encrypted data, which is legal under Article 6.1.a. in the GDPR rules. GCP has flagged its data for Limited Data Usage (“LDU”) with Facebook, whereby Facebook will limit data usage for states that have established laws to limit the transfer of data to 3rd parties for commercial uses, currently California, Colorado, and Connecticut.

You may opt out of Facebook Pixel altogether, for all off-Facebook sites, and the collection and use of your information to display Facebook ads. To set this up, you can go to the page set up by Facebook and follow the instructions on the settings for usage-based ads:  https://www.facebook.com/off_facebook_activity. The settings apply to all devices, such as desktop computers or mobile devices.
  • I use Google Analytics to analyze customer interactions with my GCP sites. GCP’s analytics tools collect information about your system as it interacts with us such as your Internet Protocol address, referral information, and browser information. This assists me in knowing how many unique visitors I have to pages, the geographic locations of my customers, so I know where I am most and least effective, and the preferred browsing environments, to aid in decisions about alterations to GCP sites. It helps me to combat spam and other internet abuses. On some GCP pages, I offer advertisements of products on other sites, such as Amazon.com, and the advertiser will mark your referral from GCP. GCP does not extract personally identifiable information from Google Analytics.
  • I collect user feedback, community discussions, chats, and other interactions, such as surveys. The user’s name, email address, and often locality may be associated with this feedback, unless it is identified as anonymous.
  • GCP makes use of third-party applications to perform a number of useful tasks in the development, maintenance, and upkeep of its sites and data. I do not sell your information to third-party sites, but some of the technologies may require information sharing to a limited degree. Some may use cookies to activate essential and helpful functions. GCP’s SSL certificate makes available to you the list of active cookies on its pages at any given time. You have the right to deactivate cookies, which might limit some GCP site’s functions on your browser. This Privacy Policy covers use of cookies or any other embedded tracking placed by GCP specifically and not by the third-party companies. The third-party companies operate under their own privacy policies.

Uses:

  • I do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone for promotional or marketing purposes.
  • I do not share your personal information with anyone outside of GCP for their promotional or marketing use without your consent.
  • I use your personal or financial information to provide you with information and services you request, to give you a customized interactive experience, and to tell you about other products and services.
  • I summarize information about you and also combine that information with that of others in a way that does not identify you personally, in order to understand how our products are used, to deliver products and services most efficiently, and to help us develop new products and services.
  • I may use service companies to help provide you products and services, who are not authorized to use your information for their own purposes.

Personal Data Publicly Provided:

  • Any personal information provided by site visitors in posts, comments, surveys, “liking” posts, or any other method by which information is displayed publicly is the responsibility of the person entering the information and not of GCP. Do not use these features of the site or its social media components if you want to keep your information private. If someone other than the user has posted personally identifiable information about the user, notify the Data Protection Officer.
