The ’90-60′ offers genealogists, historians, and genohistorians the ideal tool for capturing, analyzing, and storing data from the U.S. decennial censuses dated 1790 to 1860. It is a tremendous timesaver and inspires users to ask all the right questions about the limited sketches of families the early federal censuses offered.
These censuses present serious challenges to researchers because they only name the heads of households until 1840 for white and free, independently housed nonwhite families and 1860 for enslaved people. The real value of these censuses lies in comparing one with another. The constant change of structure by the U.S. legislature, however, makes the comparison very difficult to do without an interpretive tool. That’s what the 90-60 brings. This Google Sheets–based product is the next generation of the Early Federal Census Worksheet. See comparisons of the two tools below. The shift from Excel to Google makes it usable for a much larger population, makes it accessible from any Wifi-enabled device, and allows researchers to collaborate and share their work.

Donna Cox Baker has done it again! This template is a great addition to any serious genealogist toolbox. The ease of following families back through time has become easier with the addition of the “90-60 Workbook” template. She also features a video tutorial that helps you get started immediately! This template is cross-platform, so it can be used on Windows or Mac. I use a Mac, and it works flawlessly. Great product!
